Letter in Sat Waco Trib - Where Does Your Stolen Money Go?

Romney's running mate choice indicates a clear move to the right. Obama's campaign and administration will continue toward the left. Our polarized political system provides limited choices in opposite directions.

Assume politicians will steal your money. Should be an easy concept to grab. Now, where does it go?

- The right will always give it to the rich.
- The left will always give it to the poor.

Rich folks will always be safely insulated from difficult choices that poor folks deal with for gas, groceries, homes, and health care. Skilled business owners will ALWAYS make money, regardless of political or economic climate. The rich get rich because they are very good at getting money from the rest of us. They are also very good at keeping it.

Poor folks will always struggle regardless of politics or economy. Even when everyone else seems to be doing great, they will need help.

Those vast numbers of us in the middle will complain about the cost of everything, but we'll keep doing just fine. When things are "tough," we'll take modest vacations, buy new cars less frequently, play more public golf courses, eat out less, and buy smaller double lattes.

Ideologies tend to lean strongly, but functionally most of us are in the middle. We could argue endlessly about how broken our political system is, but the few that care enough to actually try to change it will likely never have enough power to do so.

But rather than simply choosing the lesser of two evils, picking the thieves does empower us to at least direct where our stolen money goes. If you prescribe to an organized belief system, there is probably a clearly defined morality to that choice.

So who will you "help" this election? The rich, or the poor?
